What The Garden Dental Practice can tell you about dental implants
We know there is nothing more disheartening than having missing teeth. It can affect your confidence and self-esteem. You might avoid social events and shy away from the camera, missing out on making memories with friends and family. Here at The Garden Dental Practice, we have a solution for you - dental implants in Golders Green.

What are they?
When you have missing teeth, we can use titanium screws and attach them to your jawbone, in order to then attach a crown or bridge to them; in effect, they are your tooth’s new root. This creates replacement teeth that act like your natural ones, as they are securely fitted; other solutions such as dentures can sometimes be loose fitting. This means that you should be able to eat and drink as normal and they last a long time if you keep them clean by following good oral hygiene, brushing twice daily and flossing regularly. Another benefit of implants is that they also help to restructure the appearance of your face if it has become shrunken due to the missing teeth. They also prevent bone loss or gum recession, which can occur when you have missing teeth. There are so many beneficial reasons to consider dental implants in Golders Green.
Am I eligible for them?
As long as there is enough bone to fit the screws, you should be eligible. We can assess whether or not this would be the right treatment for you during an initial consultation. If there isn’t enough bone, you may be able to have a bone graft. Depending on your needs, there are different types of implants that you can have.
Types of implants
Alongside the single tooth or multiple teeth implants using crowns and bridges respectively that we’ve described, there are also options to attach over-dentures. We use the Ankylos SynCone System whereby the implants have tapered posts that are securely fitted to the base of the dentures. Unlike other implants where the screws need 3-6 months to become embedded to the jaw, these can be attached to the dentures on the same day due to the SynCone system. This system also reduces the possibility of gum recession and bone shrinkage more than traditional implants.
What’s the process for getting implants?
No matter which type of implants you end up having, you will need to have an initial consultation, in order to identify which treatment would work best for you. During this time, you will have radiographs, study models and a diagnostic template. A CT scan may also be taken in order to see the jaw in 3D and to diagnose your suitability. We can also discover where your nerves and sinuses are to avoid them when carrying out the procedure.
Depending on which type of dental implants in Golders Green you have, the process can take between a day to 6 months. During the consultation, we will happily discuss any questions you have and make sure that you are fully satisfied with how we can help you to have a radiant smile.
So, if you want to smile for the camera and catch up with friends and family without worrying about missing teeth, come and see us at The Garden Dental Practice. We want you to have the confidence you deserve with a smile that shines.
