What is Invisalign?

Updated: Apr 9, 2021

Invisalign is a dental treatment that allows you to straighten your teeth comfortably and in a seamless way with invisible braces that can be easily removed. The Invisalign aligners are virtually transparent and are custom made for your individual teeth. Over time they will straighten your teeth without having to resort to metal wires or brackets. As the aligners are removable you will be able to take them out when you eat or when brushing your teeth. If you are considering Invisalign, then visit us at The Garden Dental Practice for a consultation on how we can meet your needs.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign aligners work using a series of trays that gradually move your teeth into position. The purpose of each tray is to move your teeth up to 0.25mm per tray. If you choose us for Invisalign Golders Green, you will receive a new set of trays every two weeks and each time you will find that your teeth are moving a little more into their ideal position. All you need to do is put the trays in and then you will be ready to go about your daily routine. If you wish to get your Invisalign Golders Green the whole process will approximately take between 9 to 18 months for your teeth to become fully aligned. The time frame will vary according to your individual needs.

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign is not only useful to straighten your teeth, but can also be used to fix a wide variety of your dental needs. This includes gapped teeth, overbites, underbites and crowded teeth which can impact on your dental health by causing stress to the jaw, painful joint problems and plaque accumulation. If you opt to get Invisalign Golders Green we will be able to address all these issues and promote better oral health.

Another benefit of Invisalign is that unlike metal braces they do not rub against your gums and therefore do not irritate your mouth as wires and brackets often can. The first few days may be slightly uncomfortable, however Invisalign is far easier to deal with in the long run than traditional metal braces once the minor discomfort eases.

One of the main benefits of Invisalign is that you are able to go about your daily life without any discomfort or distress. They are easy to take out when brushing your teeth and eating, which means that you can continue enjoying your favourite foods without causing damage to your aligners.

Aftercare

Once the Invisalign treatment is complete you will need to begin the maintenance process. It is essential that you follow the advice that your dentist provides otherwise the hard work can be undone and cause your teeth to start moving again, returning to their misaligned state, resulting in a waste of time and money. At the Garden Dental Practice our dentists will be able to provide you with expert advice during and after your Invisalign treatment, to ensure that you can maintain your aligned teeth and are satisfied with the results.
