Garden Dental Practice
Ultimate guide to Invisalign
People considering Invisalign Golders Green are likely to have a range of questions about how it works and about the benefits associated with such a treatment. Here at The Garden Dental Practice, we offer information and advice on a range of ways to get a better smile, from teeth whitening to teeth straightening and everything in between.

What are clear braces?
Clear braces, also known as Invisalign Golders Green, are an unobtrusive means of straightening the teeth. They are composed of transparent trays that are made of a very soft plastic. These trays are often referred to as aligners. The aligners are worn for a few weeks at a time before being swapped for a new set. This cycle continues (usually over a period of months) until the desired result of straight teeth has been achieved.
Can anyone get aligners?
Many of our patients are suitable candidates for Invisalign Golders Green. However, suitability is determined on an individual basis and is very much dependent on the condition of the teeth and gums. An initial chat and full assessment with us will help to decide if invisible braces or an alternative form of treatment is the best option.
Can people tell if a person has these braces?
No! That is one of the greatest advantages of invisible braces. Our patients often choose them because, while they are keen to improve their smile, they don’t necessarily want the whole world to know that they have anything on their teeth! These braces are completely transparent, which means that the only person who is aware of them is the wearer.
Are there restrictions on eating?
Clear aligners are designed to be removed for mealtimes, which means that there are no restrictions on the kinds of foods that can be eaten. The patient can continue to enjoy all their favourite meals and snacks as before. However, it is important that we issue a word of caution. While we encourage our patients to eat and drink as they wish, the teeth must be thoroughly cleaned before replacing the aligner trays.
In addition, it is important to be relatively disciplined about only consuming food and most drinks during a couple of hours of each day. This is because the trays must be worn for around 22 hours each day if they are going to deliver the expected results at the end of treatment. The only liquid that should be consumed outside of this time frame is water. This is because other drinks such as juice, cola, coffee and so on can stain the braces. If this occurs, they will no longer be invisible.
How long does the treatment take?
One of the great benefits of clear aligners is that they usually involve a much shorter treatment time than more traditional types of braces. Rather than years, the straightening is usually completed within a few months. However, it is worth bearing in mind that every patient is different and can expect different results within varied time frames. It is best to talk to us about what is likely on an individual basis; we are happy to discuss expectations.
