The benefits of Invisalign in Golders Green

When thinking of the word “braces”, what image immediately springs to mind? For most of us, it is the image of traditional, metal wire braces that are fit over the front of the teeth, used to gradually shift a person’s teeth into a more favourable position over time. Whilst these are a perfectly good method of shifting the position of teeth and are well suited to a lot of different people’s needs, it is good to be aware that there are other types of braces that can also shift the position of teeth.

For example, many of us may not have heard of Invisalign in Golders Green. This is a treatment that uses the relatively new and exciting Invisalign braces, as opposed to conventional ones. To find out more about this treatment, including how it is used and why it is currently as popular as it is we’ll take a look at it in greater depth in this article.

Explaining Invisalign

The treatment process for Invisalign in Golders Green consists of a set of clear aligners that are worn over the front of a patient’s teeth. It is so named “Invisalign” because of its nearly invisible appearance. Indeed, it is usually very difficult for other people to notice that you are having Invisalign treatment, meaning that whilst a patient is receiving this treatment, other people will not know it unless they choose to tell someone else.

In addition, the set of Invisalign clear aligners are custom made to fit an individual patient’s teeth. For this to be possible, an impression of a patient’s teeth needs to be taken first. This impression will then likely form the basis of a mould that is first used to check if the Invisalign system is right for the patient and their teeth, and then, assuming so, to create their set of Invisalign aligners. These aligners are also specifically made so that they are easy to put on and take off, which is useful for when you are eating and drinking for example.

As mentioned, these aligners come in a set. Each individual aligner has a very slightly different shape and this is how the Invisalign treatment process is able to shift a patient’s teeth. The way this works is that the patient wears the first aligner in the set for a prescribed period of time (usually around one to two weeks) before switching out for the next aligner in the set. Each aligner is comfortable to wear, and patients often find they can wear them comfortably for around 22 hours per day.
