OPEN DAY 2007

During the year we have hosted a series of events focussing on topical issues concerning dental health.

On June 9th the practice held an open day that was attended by over 100 members of the public .

The open day was the brainchild of the practice's principal dentist, Dr David Jones. He said: "It's all about breaking the ice. It can be scary walking through a closed door when you're not sure what's behind it".

This event was a great chance for people to have a look around. chat to the team and find out more about what the practice has to offer.

The open day gave members of the public a chance to see behind the scenes and chat to the dentists in an informal setting. People were able to talk to the team about their dental history and future needs, as well as look at some of the amazing technology used by the practice.

David was also on hand to explain his philosophy of holistic health. He discussed how oral health is a vital indicator of our general well-being and is intrinsically linked with other elements of our lifestyle. such as diet and stress levels. 'When we're under stress or not eating the right things. we become less resilient," he said. "Good oral health routines, such as brushing or flossing regularly, will contribute to our well-being."

David's approach is built on his 34 years of experience as a dentist. Rather than seeing symptoms in isolation, he is interested in the complete picture and how one factor can interact with another. He said: "I have treated patients from three to 103.
"Because of this. I have seen the whole process: how teeth and oral health develop and how a good dental routine can prevent problems from developing in the future:' He said that no one is too young to learn, and he has even taught six-yeal'-old children how to floss effectively.
